Old School wrench needed

I am resurrecting my Dad's '69 Scout after it sat for over 20 years since he passed away. I can do alot myself but there are times when I need someone with Old School know-how to help me. I am keeping it as original as possible, no LS swap, no new paint, leaving every dent and scratch just the way he left it to me. Right now just some small welding of a body mount but I also need help with the all drum manual brakes.

Great looking rig! If you run into an issue where you don't have the tools (i.e. welder) or capability to do it then Vegas 4x4 does a great job on some older vehicles like this including fabrication etc. In any case YouTube is an awesome resource for stuff like this if its just a knowledge gap

^That. Right there.

My first Jeep resto was done pretty much all via internet pages and Youtube. Engine top end, emissions (early 80s CA model, what a PITA), axle swaps, spring over conversion, slip yoke BS, and more. Took a while, but learned an incredible amount doing it all myself.

Since it's mobile, you might get lucky with a common available time to bring it to my place. Shoot us some pics of the joint in question, and we'll have an idea of how much will be involved.

Maybe 5" bead needed... Outside of the frame, easy when you have the tools and know how. I ran a bolt through it just to keep it in place but it really should be welded..

Cool project! The sentimental aspect especially adds to it. I'd offer to help with it, but I'm up in the northern half of the state. A little too far away.

Incidentally, I've got a '79 Scout waiting for me to get to it as well.

Thanks... I will wind up with $15,000 invested into an $800 truck... but what the hell
Scouts are not worth as much as early Broncos have skyrocketed, but they're coming up. As Broncos go out of reach of many people, they will inevitably look at the alternatives. The Scouts are about the next closest thing.

Since you havent mentioned where its located, I'm going to assume its in Reno. In which case, I'd be happy to help, go ahead and hit me up when you want to bring it by.

I saw the 702 area code on the dumpster in the next driveway!
Hovering over his name offers a location of Las Vegas, and I had thought that is what you were going off of. I hadn't noticed, and not sure many regular folks would have noticed the 702 on the dumpster. You're very observative.. perhaps a little too observative.. we're onto you now.

Well it seemed pretty clear by the picture over all that he was down south. But location is typically useful information in these types of things

Nice Scout good luck with the build, it reminds me I need to get back to my project car sitting in the driveway with a cover on it for the last few years, just haven't had the motivation.

What’s your project car ?
any raw pics?
I’ve been chasing a lead on a “barn find “ 33 Ford coupe for damn near a year.
