Basic AK/AR Rifle class September 28th, Clark County shooting park

#1
Need a couple more shooters to fill out a semi-private class; come on out and shoot on a weekday evening.

AK/AR rifle class
Wednesday, September 28th, 2011
Clark County shooting park, N. Las Vegas
Educational center 100 yard range
4:00 pm - 9:30 pm

This class will focus on the fundamental skills of rifle use as a civilian survival and self defense tool, i.e, delivering rapid hits on target from field positions and keeping your gun running.

Course sponsor wants to concentrate on AR and AK platforms. I'll have a backup AK available if someone wants to attend but doesn't have a suitable rifle.

Topics covered will include fundamentals of rifle handling and marksmanship, shooting positions, introduction to ballistics, and how to zero a rifle.

This class will serve both new shooters and the more experienced who want to "tune up" or get familiar with a new rifle.

Equipment required:
Rifle with sling (standard two point "carry strap" is fine)
Two magazines
Minimum 100 rounds of ammo
Eye and ear protection
Brimmed hat or cap
Knee pads are optional.

Bring snacks or a sandwich if desired. We won't take much of a dinner break.

Course cost is $80

Chuck,

I'd like to get in on this if possible.

Chuck can bring steel target that i've brought before.
Thanks, Bob.
I'm concerned about tearing your nice target up. ARs can play hell on steel. Not holes but pits and divots that make the plate iffy for closer range work with handgun and shotties.
We're only going to be on a 100 yard range.

I have some beater plates we can use.

Jon:
I was counting your two paid guys in my estimate of five. If you have two or three more likely and you're going to join in we're getting close to full.

I'd like to keep it at ten or so max so everyone gets personalized harassment. :reddevil:

Excellent class. 7 people took the class, including me. People on this forum are missing out on a great training opportunity that isn't too expensive.

This is something I really want to do - I just have a screwy schedule that pretty much makes it too difficult to get to Vegas unless a Friday afternoon or a Saturday.
Sounds like the class was a success!

Yeah, Chuck does most of his classes on Saturdays. He just did this class for me because of the schedule that my co workers and I work. Keep an eye out on his subforum and I'm sure you'll see something that fits. I'll probably set up another weekday class like this in the future for rifle or handgun.

Thanks Chuck, Great class. Left with a lot of good info and quality range time. This is my second class I've taken through you (CCW and Basic Handgun was the first). Rider, Thanks for putting it together. I would really like to see more weekday classes/clinics due to the fact that I work a hotel/casino schedule and it almost imposible to get weekends off. How about a Intermediate/Advanced Handgun Class sometime in the future?

Agreed. This was another excellent class. I've trained with Chuck now twice and plan on doing so again. He's a great instructor with a lot of knowledge. You can't beat the price either!
