Recently did a sit in for a hunter's ed class my younger sister was taking. A game warden came by at the end of the class just to introduce himself and answer any questions. A conversation ensued about hunting at night and spotlighting, which of course is illegal. It surprised me when he said that those regulations also included coyotes.

I haven't hunted coyotes since high school, but from what I understood back then coyotes were unregulated in Nevada, so how do those regulations apply? Has that changed since?

If you ran into one here in Washoe, he might be referring to the different county by county regs as far as nighttime shooting is permitted.

The NRS 503.140 limits hunting specifically game animals and game birds to hours between sunrise and sunset.

NDOW still lists coyotes as non-game but fur bearing, so seems like you’d be okay statewide since they’re non-game.

WCC 50.162, however, prohibits shooting any firearm at night. That statute separately prohibits using a spot light for hunting any “wild animal”.

It's regulated on a per county basis...

Was out spotlighting black jacks last night in Clark County. Coyotes Still legal here as far as i can find online. If not, im going to use the Nrs and Nac website as my defense. Your honor im sorry it's easier to find a Jack rabbit at night, than finding a reason not to, on your terrible waste of tax payer money website.
