I had a springfield Milspec 1911 for years.. Sold it, some days i regret it, others. not so much.
I'm not a fan of the beavertail grip or GI sights on a milspec. Extended beavertail is the only way to go!

The "Mil-Spec" actually isn't. It has a lowered and flared ejection port, and high-profile sights.

The "GI" model is the one that has the original style sights and true dimensions, and qualifies as a vintage pistol for local vintage matches.

The standard grip safety on a 1911 has never bothered me, though I do have enhanced ones on my carry and competition 1911s. The Browning P35 High Power, however, is the one that will pinch me good under the hammer.
