At the big Reno Gun Show last week, a group called "Nevada Firearms Coalition" had a booth there. Spoke to a nice gentleman at the booth, and the group seems interesting.
Anyone know anything about this group?
They are based in LV.

Yep. As of hours ago, they even have their own subforum here on Nevada Shooters. I'll move this to the NVFAC forum now.

Does NVFAC interact or coordinate with GOA? Or strictly aligned with NRA?

With all due respect, it's been almost a month since your last comment. I think I speak for many here when I say that we would like to keep you engaged with the forum membership. And with that said...

Can you share some updates on the fight for our 2A rights in Nevada? What is the coalition doing, specifically, in this election year as it pertains to our gun rights?

When will you release your candidate endorsements? Personally, I am very interested to know who you will be endorsing for Clark County Sheriff. What are your thoughts on Tim Bedwell for CC Sheriff???

i never joined the nra. it was never worth my time. (i am a member. a friend put my name in a few years back. i've kept it going)

as i watch my home state go liberal, full retard, led by the likes of shotgun Joe, with all the typical east coast gun restrictions coming in, and the threats coming here, it's time to start putting some coin where my concerns are.

i pulled the trigger. just joined the nvfac.

The primary is June 12 - less than two months away. My concern regarding the race for Clark County Sheriff is that we do not have a viable candidate to rally around.

Right now, the incompetent anti-gun sheriff, Joe Lombardo, is in the driver's seat, with backing from the casino bosses. Lombardo is their obedient errand boy. And yeah, I seriously HATE the sonofabitch.

My concern is that, in the primary, Lombardo might get more than 50% of the vote. If so, then he wins re-election - one and done. There will NOT be a general election for this seat in November.

But if nobody gets more than 50% of the primary vote, then the top two candidates will face off in November's general. See 2014 sheriff primary results: Lombardo 36.26% and Burns 28.28%.

***Primaries are well-known for having low turnouts.*** This is our best chance to unseat Lombardo. Find someone to rally around, and if that candidate gets more than 50% in the primary, then we have a new sheriff. Buh by, Lame-bardo!

But in order to do this, we need to circle the wagons around a viable candidate. Hence, my question to NVFAC: who are you endorsing for sheriff???

My apologies for the slow response. Due to a back injury I can only sit at my computer for a short period of time. Getting better and should be back in full force soon! Regarding your question on the CC Sheriff race, this falls under our PAC. We are sending surveys out to all candidates for ratings. However, we don't get involved in primary races. Once we have ratings on all of the candidates for the general we will post those to our website. I will post a link here at this forum as well. I hope that helps to clarify. Thank you for your questions and your interest!

Perhaps I simply don't understand the reply quoted above or the purpose of the primary, followed by the general election.

NVFAC: "...we don't get involved in primary races."

Here I thought primary was the time to vet candidates in or out. Do I understand it NVFAC waits to takes position after primary is over?

If my understanding is correct, what if an anti 2A type gets 50% and a pro 2A type gets 49%. Wouldn't it make sense that NVFAC gets involved in all races, including a primary.

NVFAC sending out surveys is a start. Candidates look at sender and tailor replies to suck up to NVFAC, Mom's Demand....

Perhaps NVFAC also look at candidate web sites, 2A positions stated, and any record action regarding 2A.

Am I missing a key point or two? Or is NVFAC already behind in assessing 2A supporters and those anti 2A?

This one is not throwing darts, simply a question. Are NVFAC positions funded or all voluntary?

I'm registered libertarian, do I have to change my registration to vote in the primary?

If you want to vote for a republican or democrat, yes. Only candidates any of us 3rd parties get to pick in the primaries are the non-partisan positions. County Sheriff and the state courts and some other county level jobs (like Justice of the Peace and such) are the only ones on 3rd party primary ballots.

I guess this means WE will have to sort out the primary races ourselves - without help from NVFAC. And yes, we can do this. Stay tuned...
