Why didnt I turn my application sooner?

I dropped off the paperwork and got prints + photos on February 10, 3 weeks ago today. I know I still have a while to wait... another two weeks or so, hopefully?

From the thread a few months back it seemed like they were averaging 30-40 days. Anyone recently get a permit that can comment?

Would appear that we are in the same boat. I dropped off the paperwork on Feb 1st and I haven't received anything as of today's mail.

It just seems silly that it takes so long when other counties are instant... I know the background check is more detailed than NICS, but what are they doing? Calling my neighbors?

Submitted mine Jan. 25th, 2011. Don't feel bad yet guys, it's been 5 weeks and I'm still waiting. Stalking the mail man every day has been my routine; Sundays are really depressing. When I turned in my application they said they were backed up 7 weeks or so.

More and more, IMHO, I feel that this whole process of getting a CCW permit and it's related fees and delays is no more a crooked Clark County govermental scam. We already pay the salaries of those who process county permits requiring fingerprints through our taxes. We have already followed the law requiring the registration of our handguns aquired outside of our lgs's and done so again at those from an lgs with the additional fee for a back ground with each purchase.

Back when I got mine in 2004, you had to wait on average 120 days and the system was way worse than it is now. 30 days is cake.

I took the class on March 12, 2008 and submitted my application in Washoe County the following day. I received my nonresident permit in 72 days.

My brother and I took the training on the same day. He lives in Douglas County. I received my permit way before he did and we filed the apps on the same day. His took at least 120 days.

After that, I read that it took the full 120 days for some applicants to receive their permits. I don't know how it is now.

at least a 60 day wait right now
That's not bad. My brother was about to head over the Douglas County Sheriff's Office but they called him to come and pick up his permit.

I found this post in OpenCarry.org regarding someone's app filed in Douglas County.

Ok so after posting to this forum and talking to a few trusted people in my area (douglas county),I decided to call the sherriffs office today and ask about my ccw again.the lady was almost as rude on the phone .I dont know if she was the origanal person I talked to but she put me on hold for a while only to come back to tell me that it was not ready, something was wrong ,she didnt know why or wheni would get it.

well I had enough of this answer,so I questioned the fact that if there was something wrong wouldnt they have contacted me?i asked her if she was familar with shall grant within 120 days unless denied?she said I dont know I can transfer you to the investigator if you want.I replied yes please!!! .sure enough a voice mail kicks in.I thought for sure I would be lost in voice mailhell..

he called back an hour later, asked my name ,put me on hold and came back to tell me that someone had put my file on his desk on sept 17th.He hadnt gotten to it., he assumed it was a new file. When I explained it was due back on the 19th he replied "of september?"I said yes .he said when did you apply. i said may 19th he said man you should have had this back a long time ago.he then said ill have to call you back again.he did within ten minutes and explained that he just ran myFBI file and approved it over the phone with me.he said he wouldsend it to the under sherriff today to get signed and i sould have it within the week.that just goes to show that those lazy (b****) clerks must have lost my stuff or never turned it in origanlly. they put it on his desk after i had gone in the first time to ask about it.there strong defense make more sense all of the sudden.

anyway thanks to those who replied.hopefully ill have it soon.

unlucky.
