I’ve been sitting on this video footage for 2 months.🤦‍♂️ Just now got around to editing it. Fairly quick function test of the Ruger 57 in 5.7x28.

Good job bro 👊🏾
I got the FN when it first came out & that same box of ammo was $19.99 back then , I reload the 5.7 too with CFE pistol & true blue . Just wish they would come from the factory with a threaded barrel .

You’re using single stage press?

I ordered one, because I need one, and they will probably be sold out soon. Thanks again

Yeah man single stage , Lyman dies & shell holder , I prime it with the rcbs hand primer but it’s a pain in the arse because the shell holder won’t fit on the small primer plastic insert so I leave out the plastic part & single feed each primer .

It’s been a while since i needed to reload any 5.7 but from what i can recall What I found works for me is using the 550 first stage to resize and deprime. I progress one station and before the next operation I remove the newly decapped and resized casing and run it in a WFT and then replace it for priming and powder. Then projectile, and finally light crimp.

I'll get my 57 back from my gunsmith tomorrow with the slide black Cerakoted and the Holosun plate drilled and on the slide to mount my HOLOSUN 509T enclosed circle/dot sight. Kydex OWB holster, 3 mags and The Vest Guy double mag pouch. 60 rounds of goodness.
Frikkin' zombies beware! And should the 57 jam I've got the PS90 "in reserve".

got one to test fire and see if I wanted to retire my Colt 1911a1 that I have used since the 60s. Well to tell the truth was not really impressed enough. The ruger 5.7 good gun well made accuracy at 100 yds not shabby but it lives in the safe now.
The reason for it there is did not feel right in my hand and sat wrong when carried just felt wrong

"Dusty", I congratulate you on hand loading for your "57". Not an easy job.

"Retired", My "57" feels fine in my hand and actually more natural than my Glock 17. Carried in my Kydex holster it feels fine. I think you are so used to your 1911 that something, anything different throws you off.

It feels bulky in my hand. I would never carry it, it has a rather large frame. I’m glad that you like to carry it though. Maybe it is a 1911 thing.🤷‍♂️ But it shoots great and its fun to shoot.

The width of the "57" grip is long to accommodate the longer 5.7 x 28 cartridge but the thickness is narrow so the total volume is about the same s a 1911. I have a fairly normal size men's hand but I do take a size Large glove so maybe my fingers are longer.

I will say I'm happy with the very good accuracy of the "57". That circle reticle on the HOLOSUN 509T sight is great for 100 yard aiming. This cartridge has REACH!

This is what I would like to do. Thanks for your input
