Star BM

Picked up an old Star BM pistol. All steel, single stack 9 mm (8+1), produced from 1972 to 1992. It was either a Spanish police or military issued pistol. Quite hefty compared to modern polymer framed pistols but still an awesome piece of Cold War history.

I love my Star BM. I always wanted one and bought it just after we moved and I got my NDL.

Just like me! Couldn't afford one when they first hit the market (was a struggling college kid) then when I could, none to be found... until I moved to Nevada.

Had a few of them since their second import batch back in the early 2000s -- great little pistol for the price, both then and now.

Here is a brief history of Star Arms. The article does not say so, but I think they were blindsided by the increasing popularity of the Glock 17/19. The company's attempt to compete with its own polymer pistol, the Ultra Star, did not save them.
