The Colt 6940 AR15 were originally made with every part produced in-house at Colt's factory.
These rifles were designed for SWAT teams and special forces.
Recently, some of these ARs have been released for sale, though they are considered collectible items by people who own them.
Later versions of the Colt 6940 were also made, and although Colt continued using restricted military stamps, the materials and craftsmanship differed from the original models.
