If 19 upper doesn't work on a 17 in 9mm, why would it in 22?

That's what I'm asking. I thought I tried to swap them a long time ago and they did, but maybe I'm wrong, plus that would have been like Gen 2 guns I was playing with back then. I don't currently have two from close enough generations to test.
