You did a great job on that 11-87 stock refinish GW. Tru-Oil® finish? Looks great.
Keep up the good work and I am gonna have to promote you from Bumbling Apprentice 33rd class to Jr. Flunky any day now!

Whoever buys the 11-87, remember to tell them about putting choke lube or anti seize on the choke tube threads if this is their first shotgun or they are not familiar with screw in chokes, will keep them from coming back to you 4 years from now saying you sold them a defective shotgun because they put a choke tube in it dry the day after they bought it, shot it heavily for 4 years, and then couldn't get the tube out!

Yes, I had a customer come backinto the gun shop under just those circumstances. He didn't read the owners manual on the brand new 870 we sold him, nor did he remember my admonishment to lube the choke tubes.

Yes Tru-oil.
Oh yeah, I will hit the threads with some anti seize.

Wow Jr. Flunky! only a few "masters" have made it past that. JM Browning, Edison, Archimedes and like seven others.

Yah, but they all took a lot longer to get there than you have, probably due to your diligent application of the art of Google-Fu to all your work!

A very small tube of Permatex Anti Seize from the auto parts store is perfect for those choke tubes, there's enough in there to last a life time, and it has both high temp and high pressure resistance.

Or if you have any plain (not flavored) Philips Milk of Magnesia (MoM) in the house, just coat the threads with that, it is extremely temp resistant and pressure resistant too, and doesn't make nearly as much of a mess as the silver anti seize does. Once the MoM dries on the choke tubes, it really doesn't rub off on hands and clothes. The anti seize will get on anything it touches.

Boeing actually requires MoM as the anti seize of choice for assembling the parts of the turbines on its jet engines, that's how well it works.

As a retired automotive tech I have plenty of miscellaneous crap in my bag o tools. Enough anti seize for your entire collection of shotguns with a bit left over. But if you want one more... :ihih:

I dunno if I want to fire a shotgun worked on by one of my Bumbling Apprentice 33rd Classes,,,,,,,,,,oh, yah, forgot , you got frocked to Jr. Flunky, so it's probably safe to shoot with a long rope on the trigger and tied to a large tree!

Did you sporterize the Enfield? Stock ,etc. looks pretty good, nice work if you did it.
Good idea putting the recoil pad on it, they kick a bit , and when the stock has been cut down and lightened, it just gets worse if you leave that steel buttplate on them.

No, bought it as is.
Just took it all apart, cleaned and test fired. GTG. But yes the stock is really nice.

I had no idea. This is good to know, but all of My shotguns are fairly old with fixed chokes. But My Boys are getting new 870 Wingmasters for Christmas with interchangeable chokes. So this will help greatly.
