ETA: Adoption List (updated):

steve = 1x no preference.

We have a stray cat in our backyard. My kids love pets but we can't have pets since all of them are allergic to pets. However, we did give the cat food and water. Well, just last Friday (Good Friday), the stray cat had a litter of 3 kittens. We continue to give her plenty of food and water and monitor the kittens. Questions?

1. Best way to get rid of the kittens (No, not right away. We like to keep given the mother plenty of food/water and a safe environment for her to take care of the kittens until they're old enough to be separated)?

2. Best way to prevent more litter of kittens in the future (we don't want to chase the cat away)?

3. Anyone want to adopt adorable kittens?

4. Any other suggestions?

Several years ago a stray/abandoned cat made its home in our backyard and gave birth, luckily to only 1 kitten.
Gave it food until the kitten was old enough and a guy who worked for my dad took it. Animal control then came for mom...

Capture cat. Bring to vet. Spay cat. Release again. No more kittens from mom. When the kittens are old enough, spaying the females will also prevent them from raising more kittens in your yard.

I don’t suppose you have any pictures of the kittens?

I’ll probably be willing to take one.

If one of the greys is a male, I’m so down. If not, I’ll still take one of the greys.

Cool.

I don’t know the sexes of the kittens yet. Will be keeping this thread updated regularly. Spoke to an employee at Petco and she said roughly 12 weeks before separating from the mother/other siblings. I also need to buy kitten food for them pretty soon.

This will be the 2nd ferrel kitten we have got from this forum. Our other one is 7 years old this month. She turned out to be a great cat. We have no preference for which one we get either.

For Starters I would say adequate back yard security. Like a big patrol dog. Second, build a wall or tall fence structure.:taser::hung:
Looks like You have already created a welfare state,:wtf?: by feeding and watering the illegal cat. It's never going to leave now, or its anchor babies. They have became dreamers.:nonod:

Honestly when I started reading this I thought You were making a illegal immigration comparison  Best of luck to You. Maybe they stray cat will do jobs You are unwilling to preform. Like catch mice, or kill roof top pigeons.

Working for food.

She kept the vegetables safe from mice, birds and bugs. Also super friendly. Well, she’s a good illegal so I granted her DACA status and now she has anchor kittens. Can’t deport her now.

We are really dog people. we have cattle dogs but cats found us too. As my wife was leaving work one night, her building was still under construction on the strip, she hear a meow from a box in the parking garage. Hardly anyone used it at that point. In the box was a probably 6 month old cat that was almost black. She brought it home. We had it checked at the vet for a chip, none. we gave it a bath and found out it was white. That was 9 years ago. And her and the other kitten we got from the forum are great. They actually just live in our bedroom. Its very large. She just sort of found us. They say you cant pick a cat as a pet they pick you. I know a lot of people dont like them for what ever reason, but we were able to train the kitten very much like a dog.

just an FYI. We have No-Kill Shelters here in Vegas.

My Parents went through a simular sicnerio, although my father wouldn't allow anyone ot put out food, he was fine putting out water. And my mothers dogs had both passed away recently, so nothing to drive off the cats. Eventually the mother cat dropped a load of anchors. My father gathered them all up(6 kittens i think) and took them to the No-Kill shelter. Shelter even loaned my father a travel contaier to hold the cats in for transport.

They took the cat/kittens, fixed them, gave them their shots and put them up for addoption. You can even see their individual pictures on the website.

FYI Russian Blue cats are great for people that are usually allergic to cats. They are hypoallergenic so most people are not allergic to them.

I had a kitten I acquired years ago. He turned out to be such a cool cat. My friends that hated cats liked this cat.

Found out from an allergist Dr. buddy of mine that nearly any breed of cat or dog can be "hypoallergenic" if the owner is willing to bathe them frequently and feed them a proper diet.

Seems its the dander we are allergic too, not the fur or the species.

Good diet keeps skin supple and not dry, frequent bathes with the right shampoo do the same, get rid of the dander and no more sneezing.

Apparently, the whole “let’s surprise someone with a kitten” thing is running rampant in my place. I thought I was being sneaky by arranging this and my girlfriend was also being sneaky by planning this...

This little guy and his sister were born at a Lowe’s in the home and garden section about six weeks ago. Recently, the kittens were abandoned by their mom. One of the employees saved them both and my girlfriend took this one.

I’m super sorry, but since she beat me in the “great kitten race of 2018” that I had no idea I was participating in, I can’t take the kitten. Hate to bail you on, but this was super unexpected.
