Save your money. The SKS is a great rifle, and works wonderfully the way it was designed. The removable duckbill mags are notoriously crappy. If you want a mag-fed 762x39, spend your money on an AK - another wonderful rifle.

The Tapco duckbill mags are sturdy and reliable in my experience. I have had problems with the couple of generic metal ones I have tried (but that was also before I got used to it, so there's that). I am not a fan of pistol grips, so I went SKS (plus the price difference was quite a bit more a few years ago...got mine for ~$260 about 4 years ago) instead of an AK.

I had a ak few years back. Loved it. Just got the sks off another member. More for fun than anything! Thanks for the advice!
