Yes Daewoo makes/made some really cool stuff. They make the firearms for the ROK military, top notch stuff. I've got a DR200 rifle that is one of my favorite black rifles. Looks more like an AR family rifle, but combines the best characteristics of the AK/FAL (piston operated). Excellent shooter, much nicer factory trigger than any AR I've ever fired, and is a tackdriver.

I think they were just starting to expand into the US market in the early 90's, but when Slick Willie passed the AWB in his first year in office, it pretty much killed their foothold in the market. Same as all the cheap and cool Norinco rifles of that time period. Unfortunately at the time I was a broke college student and couldn't afford anything.
