When a picture is added to the post using the 1547672661816.png button, the image is embedded in the post automatically (just as it would if it was added using the 1547672703869.png button.
Sure helps in the Trading Post not having to click to see the pic.

Titan,

when attaching, it goes the option for thumbnail or full something or other. is there a benefit? if thumb nail is selected, does a big pic get scaled down and take less bandwidth? just curious.

another site i frequent did the same xenforo update. they have a size limit, but it sucks having to downsize first. if it is/was automatic, that would be cool. and something nice to forward to them.

Nothing has changed as far as the size goes. Several months ago we found the fix for bandwidth. This is completely automatic. The only change is how the photo attachments are displayed.
Basically, instead of seeing an attachment you have to click on like this (for example) at the bottom of a post
1547675218115.png
You will see the full size image in the post instead.

If this change does do something to bandwidth, it will be reverted. But from the developer, all it does is when a picture is added to the post using the
button, the image is embedded in the post automatically (just as it would if it was added using the
button.)

i guess i didn't explain, or ask, my last question properly, but you can see things in the following picture.

when i was attaching the above photo, it appears that i am being asked a question in the insert dialog. you can see it in the photo in this thread. circled. it APPEARS to be asking if the photo should be inserted as a full image or thumb nail.

my question ... was related to this. specifically, is selecting one option better than the other, as far as bandwidth. thumbnail? or full image? i guess it also has some potential disk space ramifications as well.

If thumbnail is selected does it make the image file smaller automatically?

Interesting. I never select either so I'm not sure the difference.
So well test it.
This is without selecting either.

Good to know.

On a future update, can we remove the 4 letter minimum on searches? Makes it hard to search the term “ccw” or some calibers, etc.

To be clear, Gullwing wanted to be ONE OF the girls. Not only was that too disturbing, but surely not in the budget!!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Oh come on! His asking fees couldn’t have been THAT high!

Can I have some kind of swag for finding SUCH AN IMPORTANT feature? ?

And if you figure out how that happens, please advise. I’d like to pass along to the other site I am on that uses xenforo. They have size limits. If they just did the thumbnail it would make posting pics there easier.

The thumbnail option won't reduce storage usage, as the full image is still there (click on the thumbnail and it expands). As for bandwidth, normal jpeg or png photos are small enough that it shouldn't make any difference on modern connections (although I am not entirely sure about the connections of some of our more um...rural members).

I for one do NOT miss the days of dial-up and waiting minutes to hours for pictures to load...we also don't need to bring up what the pictures were of
