I had no idea why would a PM saying i'll take it not be good enough?
Its just the way the rules work. The first posted ill take it gets it. I believe its up to seller to determine who was actually first if there are conflicting "ill take it" offers with one public and one private.
With the way the forum shows timestamps of posts and PMs it should be easy to determine who was first.
I am not a mod, nor do i play one on TV but that is my comprehension of the rules.
It used to be and may still be that a posted ill take it in the thread trumped private agreements but i could be incorrect.

If you read the rules you’d have had an idea. I didn’t write them, it’s just the rules.

Seller may end up going however they want to, but, for reference here is the excerpt from the top thread on this sub forum: E802E38E-22AD-40BF-8B06-D8DF8A4A936A.jpeg

I’m somewhat confused but I’m pretty sure LVAL is next to buy both after a flake on the colt. I’m sorry for any confusion. I guess I didn’t ask enough for them and there’s a lot of interest. Jgalloupe seconds on the colt and big blue37second on the 645 then cduke third. If selling both falls through again. Fourth elcajun for both. I hope that’s correct and fair. Will contact in that order until sold. Really sorry about the confusion about order

Keep in mind that the rest of us have no idea what is being said in PMs, which is why I believe the Rules state a “I’ll take it” trumps a PM. All too often potential buyers ask several questions or make lower offers using the PM. So are the rest of us who are ready to purchase supposed to wait until all questions are answered and/or negotiations are over? Keep in mind that the question is rhetorical.

Sell them to whomever you wish, I personally won’t be butt-hurt over missing out on the 645 even though it does suck for those of us who read and follow the rules.

I agree but also calling “dibs” should mean I will take the gun in whatever condition it is in by looking at the info offered. Calling dibs w conditions isn’t really “dibs” either. That’s what the pm’s are for, to make sure you are getting exactly what u want before committing to buy it.
Not talking about you personally. I’ve just seen that before w items, and then see it available again after dibs were called.
Also, I personally think if you are going to go thru the trouble of listing an item for sale you need to be very attentive to your emails and messages AT LEAST the first day of the posting so you get questions answered timely and don’t leave ppl hanging..
Congrats to whomever gets it. The 645 was my very first pistol and sadly as a young one I sold it. If the buyer wants to make a $100 lmk and I’ll take it off your hands ?

I disagree about the dibs with conditions. Although not explicitly listed in the rules of this site, it is common practice on others. I should have doubled checked before posting, my apologies. The seller posted several pics of the 1911 but only one of the 645, which is why I followed up with a request for additional pics. I did intend to purchase it regardless of minor defects.

Your statement speaks to a concern not addressed in the rules. Are we obligated to purchase if the item if it’s not in good condition when we see it in person because we called “dibs?” I guess that’s the risk we assume when we reserve an item sight unseen.

In order to avoid any further discussion about a vague and trivial topic, I withdraw my “I’ll take it pending inspection” for whatever it’s worth at this point.

Congrats to the seller and whomever the buys the pistols.

No if an item is misrepresented by the seller, then that is grounds for a withdraw. If he says it’s “good” and only shows a pic of one side and it has a big gouge on the other side then the buyer should have asked for more pics, (like I did also). Either way, I won’t lose sleep over any of this either.
