Pay it forward

I started reading this thread, read the first 8-10 pages, than fast forwarded to the end. It is mind boggling that no matter how many times TopHog posted the explanation to the concept of "pay it forward", no one is following it.

The idea is for the items to NOT go to somebody who's on the internet the most, everyone that wants an item should have a chance to get it. Duh!

LOL... if you want to do what you guys have been doing, don't call the thread "Pay it forward", call it "Free **** for the first person to yell "I"ll take it!""

If you look back on the thread I have never taken one item. I simply point out that you don't always get a fair shake in life Unfortunately but that is the way it is. if you want to call it "Free $hit" That is perfectly fine with me if I need or want something I simply buy it instead of begging for it on the internet.

Sir, I wasn't addressing you specifically. I was merely pointing out that in spite of numerous times very clear and specific instructions were given for how this thread was to work, people still didn't get it.

At the same time I was not specifically complaining about ME not getting a chance at the items offered. I just discovered this thread for the first time. Furthermore, just like you, I buy whatever I need, but that's not what this thread was supposed to be about.

If you go to the beginning, it was said numerous times by the mods that the Pay it Forward concept is indeed about being fair to everyone. And now you're telling me "I don't care, life's not fair". Doesn't make any sense.

Not trying to pick a fight, especially since even though I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you in person, I have great respect for you based on your posts and your photography :D

I think as is often the case on the interwebz, I failed to convey the true emotions behind my post. I guess it could have been misinterpreted as me whining about not getting any free stuff, when in reality I couldn't care less.

So in that spirit, let's resume this thread.

I have 1 box of 25 Remington Golden Saber premium self-defense ammo in .40s&w with 2 rounds missing (23 total). It will NOT go to the first person to post "I'll take it". Anyone that wants the ammo, please PM me. On March 20th I will randomly select the winner via a hi-tech drawing of a piece of paper from a hat.

The winner may pick up the ammo by the post office on Tenaya & Smoke Ranch during business hours (8-5 M-F). The winner will than have 24 hours to offer the next Pay It Forward item in the same fashion.

Indeed.

"It's called 'pay it forward' or Karma. Same thing.

A good way to do it is if you have something to give, post it and give a time limit, usually 5 days or a week, for people to say "I'm in!". Then draw a name. (Or put all the names on 'post-its' on a target, First one hit gets it.) That way it's fair for everyone involved, not just the first person who has a FREE alarm. And it makes it more interesting.

Usually the winner offers something else up, hence paying it forward, or passing on the Karma."
The slight "hitch" here is items like a oil filter isn't going to get 10 members to say, "put me into the drawing" no matter how many days the time limit is to collect names. (not saying a oil filter isn't a good "gift") :001_wub:
Look! a few weeks ago a nice dog was up for grabs, I don't think anyone adopted him. The Karma rule is simple, just pay back any good fortune sent your way. Hec, have a drawing for a $5 bill sent to the winner by mail, easy.

nc star clamp on quad rail

with being the lucky winner of the .40 ammo and keeping with odesskiy's wishes I'm giving away a nc star clamp on quad rail I bought for my shotgun but it didn't work out don't have any use for it. It works fine but the shell tube is the same length as the barrell so it has nothing to clamp on to. I'll be coming into vegas on Saturday afternoon can meet up with someone then or I live in pahrump might do a drawing like odesskiy or pick a winner based on use so with your entry please tell me what you plan to use it for. Not requiring a new posting from the winner but it is encouraged I think this is a cool thing to keep rolling. Good luck and will get a couple pics up when my wife decides to help me

Thanks a bunch to odesskiy

 !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks. You figured it out! Along with Odesskiy and a couple others.

Nothing wrong with posting something for free, but it's about giving all members a chance, not the first person to see it. And the winner passes along the good fortune.

It doesn't even have to be an item of equal value, or something that everyone can use. For example, I don't need 4 import car oil filters, but I'm sure more than one person here can. And maybe the winner would take one, and give out the other three. And maybe some more items will show up here because of it.

I have a few items to post here, and it will be the 'drawing a name' method. Or as Kyle the Cannoli did, each name gets a square or dot on a target. First one hit wins!

It's about sharing and giving. (Dang, I sound like a holiday commercial! :001_smile:)
