Kitchen Cabinets - Henderson
Ok, I have an entire kitchen full of cabinets that I am ripping out. Even though they were supposed to be custom cabinets and never used, they are in bad shape and do not meet industry standards. I question the structural integrity of some of the pieces as the spans are too long, the drawer slides are undersized, and there are very few square corners. The finish is rough, and I am sure that a one-armed, blind capuchin monkey could do better. Needless to say, I am not keeping them in the kitchen.
There are some redeeming qualities to these cabinets. Most of the sides are constructed with 3/4" plywood (I found 2 with 3/4" MDF) and wood is wood. There are a lot of them with a lot of drawer boxes. There's even a pop-up Kitchen-Aid mixer shelf and a lazy susan. With a little bit of reinforcement, and maybe a paint sprayer, there could be some perfectly acceptable garage storage for the lucky person willing to take this away.
I am sure that if you have gotten this far, you are intrigued and wonder why I am giving this away. First, it is inferior enough that I would not feel right about taking money, especially if something broke. Second, I don't want to look at it anymore, and neither does my wife. I am dealing with the contractors board to file charges against one of the worst "carpenters" I have ever met (I use the term carpenter rather loosely; there's wood, it was cut, and fastened to other wood to make a box-like object). They told me that I can do whatever I want to with it and I want it gone to make room for cabinets coming in.
With all of that said (and obviously you're still interested 'cuz you're still reading), I will clarify some things. All of the appliances are staying. The sink and countertops are staying as well. While I know that I might not be able to salvage the countertops, I am going to give it a try as I have a few bathroom vanities that I might be able to salvage enough to cover. I will try not to break the base cabinets, but I won't know for sure until I try removing the countertop (the counter adhesive might be stronger than the cabinets).
My plan is to get the pantry wall with oven unit and the uppers out of there first. I will take everything down and stack by my front door(if I break anything in my house, it's on me, plus I would rather not have someone possibly getting hurt in my home), you bring a truck, strong backs, and a dolly and/or cart. I would like to get rid of those this week or next weekend. The lowers and island will probably be available a couple of weeks from now.
If you're interested, let me know. I can get you measurements or more pictures, because I would rather not have to deal with more people in my house (been a freakin' pain in the azz for the last 7 months).
Thanks for looking.
