Cranky old Alien A. I. Program Says “LISTEN UP, HOOMONS!”
If you are looking an ad in the Nevada Shooters Trading post and want to buy something from it, DO NOT start the negotiations for the deal by sending the seller a PM, even if that PM is going to say, “I’ll take it”.
Why?
Because the first “I’ll take it” posted in the ad gets the sale, per the trading post rules!
If you circumvent this by going straight to the seller with a PM and conclude the deal, and before the seller can get to the forum and have the ad closed, or mark that item in a multiple item ad as “SOLD”, then the first person to put that “I’ll take it” is likely going to leave the seller negative feedback because they feel they got conned, or that the seller was soliciting offers, trying to get the highest dollar for their item, or the seller isn’t following trading post rules, etc.
And if the seller has not concluded the deal, then this forces them to tell the buyer who contacted them without posting in the ad, “Sorry, can’t sell to you after all, I must honor the first “I’ll take it” posted in the ad, and since you didn’t put one there, I have to sell it now to XXXXXX.”
So, if you think you want to buy something, but you need to work out details with seller, waddya do?
Put an “I’ll take it pending inspection” or an “I’ll take it pending contact with the seller” to secure your place in the line of buyers.
If the deal falls through, EDIT your post to change it from some form of "I'll take it" to something like "Deal didn't go through, back up for grabs", DO NOT use an additional post to do this, just EDIT your post with the "I'll take it" in it.
Now read the rules, follow the rules, play nice, don’t make me get up from my cryo-sleep chamber and fire up the Klingon disrupter set to Maximum Jock Itch, and target ya’all. Nothing meaner than a sleep deprived, cranky old Alien A.I. program ya know.
