Just like the "show off your offroad vehicle" thread, how about one for go fast cars?

Factory 5 Roadster. I did everything myself except for the paint/bodywork and the engine build. It is a blast to drive!

What I like to do in it. This is no garage queen.

440 hp and 445 ft lbs of torque 347 built on a Dart short block and Edelbrock top end in a 2300 lb car. What could go wrong?

Eventually itll run.
383 with a gap intake, rv cam, 650 double pumper, t10 4 speed, 9 bolt rear.
Right now the shifter linkage is in the bed, and i still need to tune the carb. Too much other little stuff to list but its on the backburner until the world figures out what to do about a seasonal flu. Leaving it sitting makes me sad but working on it makes my bank account sad. Hahaha

Drooling!

This is my dream car - even a kit version of it!
It is a blast to drive. Gets lots of attention and thumbs up. I almost always get three questions:

1. Is it "real"? I respond usually that no, it is a replica. There were less than 1000 original ones built in the 60s. If I feeling cheeky, I'll respond "you see it too? I thought I was the only one "

2. Is it a big block? "No, just a simple small block Ford motor". It is plenty fast for me. I think the only Ford part in my Ford based motor is the camshaft. It is the Ford Racing "E" cam.

3. How fast is it? "I don't know, it is more car than I am driver."

If you have the opportunity. Get one. I loved the build aspect almost as much as the driving part. I learned a ton about car systems and how they all work together. I've seen people build a decent looking one with a lot of junkyard or donor car parts for around $30,000. Using all new parts and getting a professional show quality paint job will set you back $50-70,000.

They are money pits for sure. But, driving it around knowing that it is back on the road because of your time and effort is priceless.

Absolutely. I had it running summer before last but i parked it and started getting into it right before the coof coof struck the world and everybody had to stop being people.
The entire drivetrain got swapped from a smog era boat anchor 350 to what it is now.
I just dont have much reason to finish it right now and im busy working on the bugout truck instead.... For reasons.

I think i maybe saw you and like four other roadsters coming back along the north road of the lake by Echo bay like a month ago on a cruise. Sure looked like your car anyways. Red candy, black stripe.

That was probably me. I run around with three other replicas. North Shore Drive is one of our usual drives.
