I passed the interview stage. There is at least one more hurdle. Will post the agency once the process is over.
It was the Equal Rights Commission - Compliance/Investigator position. Went through the interview then was asked to prepare an investigative report based on a scenario. Did that and waited. Got a letter in the mail saying I was not selected.

On to the next one.

Just going to leave this here...

Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerning any potential positions. I think my wife would like me out of the house for her last summer off (full-time student), but honestly I feel I have a lot to offer. I've done the whole self-employed, lone wolf thing but find myself missing interacting with colleagues and clients. Crazy, I know.

Name and info has been publicly "redacted" for privacy reasons; However, I have no problem sending the full version to anyone interested. I'm sure a couple of you will read this and immediately put a name and face to the resume anyways.

You can clean my dad's guns. All those times he told me "Oh, don't worry, I'll clean them," after shooting...yeah. 10 years later and I'm scraping lots of crud off of them.

Gun cleaning

I bet if u continued to advertise, reasonable price, u would get some business.
Amateur collectors like me have a large number of guns that just sit, mine are wrapped in muslin cloth, over oiled and I just completed a cleaning cycle. But I will bookmark your thread.
My gunsmith, CCS guns, would charge me $20 each, reasonable for him, over heads etc plus he is really busy. But several hundred $ to me. (Not deep clean, just field strip, another gunsmith I use will deep clean for $30.).
Also I have arthritis. Until a few years ago before A DR. prescribed a different non anti inflammatory medication before that, it would take me 25+ minutes to clean a simple 1911. So u may have a market for older people when it just a hassle.
At my gun club DSRP couple of years ago, a guy cleaned my guns in exchange for my brass (i don't pick it up ). So he would clean 3/4 guns, I still didn't pick it up, just bought brass from the club at $5 per pound, he thought the three pounds I gave him were way too much. But we continued for quite some time.
I guess he knows now I really didn't shoot that much in a few days.
Just trying to give u an idea of what me and most likely others would pay for the service. The trust issue is easily resolved.

Leave you name and number at the DSRPC front gate with the guard. Tell him to let the members kow that you can provide that service.

You can also put an add in the DSRPC newsletter/website ad area.

Good luck. I hate cleaning my guns. I wait till they are very dirty. My Bad.

Armorer...

I think a few of the branches of the military still have armorers who clean and maintain firearms for their units. See your local recruiter!

Here's what I posted on another forum:

"Jobs are out there. Think outside the box and your comfort zone. Be patient and reselient. Knock on doors. I cold called (walked in and filled out an application) and was hired on the spot pending background checks and drug testing which I passed.

After being out of work for a year, it feels good to be employed again."
