My 95 F-250 with a 460 got 10 MPG when drag racing it through town. I've no idea what mileage it would get if I hadn't driven it that way.

My next door neighbor gave a 95 Chevy C3500 dually that needs a bit of help, it came with a 5.7 TBI small block, I have most every thing to build a 383 for it, I am going to put a carb on it and maybe a single blow through turbo. It needs 6 good tires, it has 200,000 miles on it with a 4L80 trans which is going to fun to figure out how to make shift with the TBI computer with a carb but it can be done. I have never been a Chevy but its better then no truck. IMGP4240.JPG

Keep us updated on the build. Sounds interesting.

This thread makes me sad since I am truckless. I’ve already had to borrow trucks or trailers from work multiple times to do stuff around the house.

It pains me to do so.

I've got a sorta newer truck, it won't be 20 years old for a few years yet. But it's good for hauling ammo and shotguns to Carson City for shooting. Has a locking cover so it's kinda useless for hauling much else, but I don't need to stay my range gear in and out all the time.

Meet Yugo (so named because in civilized locales everyone motions for Yugo to proceed). He is a 1986 F-350 4wd diesel. When I drove him to Las Vegas from Fortuna, CA, I got 22 mpg.
When you need a truck, you need a truck. I have hauled 3,000 lbs. of gravel in the bed and that merely make it ride better. In 4wd low range it is a rock crawler.

Well, (poop). I thought I was out of the old truck game for a minute, but life changes.

Bringing home this 68 Camper Special tomorrow. Paint is a crappy 90's Maaco job, but it's straight as an arrow and runs quite well.

Nice old Fords. I like the 390 and also like the big 300 ci straight six. You can build the 300 six to over 400 HP no problem. Bullet proof engine. It has seven main bearings!

My white one has a 390, new one has a 390, orange one had a 300. That 300 was like a tractor, but it just plain ran. It was graveyard quiet too

There are YouTube videos that sing the praises of the mighty Ford 300 cubic inch six. Quiet and indestructible. The 300 and even the little 200 were used in a lot of industrial applications were the engine would run nonstop for years, even decades.
