So I was curious about the issue you referenced for the Samsung LN52A550P3F and did a quick google search; it looks like this is a relatively common issue that might be fixed by following a quick simple process outlined in one of the responses in this link related to a different Samsung model with a similar sounding issue:
"Please disconnect the set from AC power, then press and hold the power button on the TV itself (not the remote), for 10 seconds. After another minute, plug the set back in and press power once."
If that doesn't work, there are a few other YT videos and what not that I didn't click on. That being said, cool of you to offer - hopefully someone can use this.

Usage has probably been less than 10 hours total and all at relatively low volume (I.e. less than 1\3).
