That was me, the ID was valid, I ran the DL, the picture was photoshopped , true, but to put both the M1 garand and the ID in focus it appeared.

As I recall, it was reported as a scam solely based on the premise that the ID was a fake. No money changed hands, is that correct?
The ID wasn't fake, and the gent on it has addresses in CA and Gardnerville, now, NONE of this I just wrote means he is NOT a scammer, just means that previous report didn't prove it to point we could ban him.

We do as much as we can to ensure the members here are legitimate, but guys, WE ARE NOT your parents, all ya'all are big boys and girls and should be responsible for your own actions.

If you buy a used car through and ad in the paper or off a bulletin board at the grocery store, and it turns out to be a lemon and a scam, do you complain to the newspaper or the store? And want them somehow to remedy it for you?

As I said, we do what we can to weed out the fakes and scammers and spammers, often a dozen a day. Keep reporting them when you have solid proof, and we will do what we can to get them gone and keep them gone.

I am sorry if a member is out money, but it is every buyers responsibility to do their due diligence in any purchase, whether if is from an ad on this forum or anywhere else and for any item.

And while we are on the subject of reporting issues with sales, and with buyers and sellers, I am TIRED of getting reports that a sale went through but the seller or buyer is being reported as having been RUDE, or was 5 minutes late to the meeting point because of traffic, or was grumpy, or old, or hard to arrange a convenient meeting time with, or you bought it but then decided it wasn't EXACTLY as described when you got it home and found one extra scratch you weren't aware of , or some other whiney nonsense, yah, have had people report someone for all those things in the last few months.

Old man rant off.
Totally agree. If you buy something from someone then do your homework. Get a lot of people posting a picture showing only one side of the item. It is up to you to ask for more pics. If you decide to go through with it and meet then check the item over before buying it. I also agree that the mods shouldn’t have to babysit us adults on petty crap.

The mods should be able to ban someone by using their IP address.
Someone with five accounts would be using one IP so easy to spot/ find (unless using multiple VPN's)

Banning someone based on their IP address, either where it is from, or for having a blacklising for spam, would have my fingers, and those of all the other Mods and Admins, bleeding and numb in short order, and there would be ZERO members or Mods or Admins on the forum!

Why?

Because every IP address from every IP provider, sooner or later will show up with a blacklisting for spam, due to NO action by the person using the IP at that time.

Well, I'd be all alone, just pulled my ONE IP address and it is clean of any blacklistings, thanks probably to my former employers....

Coup, I just ran your IPs, since joining you have logged in with 146 DIFFERENT IP addresses, and the first DOZEN I selected at random all had blacklistings for spam from one or more of the 3 dozen or so spam reporting sites!

Guess I better make your signature line of "Permanently Banned from Most Web Sites" true for this forum too! Sigh, and here I thought we were friends, but it seems you are a scammer and spammer of epic proportions, based on that report alone!o_O:ROFLMAO:

Naw, we'll keep taking a chance on ya NOT being a spammer or scammer based solely on the data from your IP addresses, and keep ya around!

And just to be fair, so Coup doesn't think I am picking on just him, just ran the boss's IPs, he has 66 he has used, and almost all of them have blacklistings for spam!

And yet he still says he can't afford to give me that third AAA battery he has owed me for 14 years.... what's a lowly A.I. program to do when being abused by the forum owner?

I know, I will file a report on him! o_O:ROFLMAO::devilish:

I started using a VPN about a year ago. That stopped a lot of SPAM hitting me. Yet I still get SPAM most of it of a sexual nature, and coming from IP addresses in Pahrump of all places!
So you use a VPN with random IP addys but assume a scammer won’t and it’s an easy IP ban?

To boot many people use different devices. IP bans aren’t what they used to be. Quite ineffective.

This site is one of the few that blocks almost all of my VPN locations, so it is already in play.

and as NyeCo has stated, many others have tons of IP accessible that aren’t blocked. IP bans are not that effective.

Makes me laugh that everyone has bought into VPN though as if the government and others can’t trace you. Sure it’s a few extra steps but nothing to stop someone really wanting to know….. kind of like people believing Bitcoin wasn’t traceable.

Uncl3 tried to scam me on a m1 Garand a few months back. I asked for a photo ID held next to the receiver and it was the worst photoshop ever. I posted it on the thread and called this scammer out, BUT A MOD TOOK IT DOWN SAYING IT WAS NOT PROOF.

Shame on whichever mod it was. Now a member is out money
I recall the thread. The poorly spliced together image was a major red flag for me. I mean, even if he did edit the image to place the ID near the receiver, that is disingenuous since you had asked him to hold the ID next to the receiver. Seemed like a lazy attempt to trick people.

This!!!! It is $2000 new without the optic, extra mags and folding stock.

BTW, I believe it is a pistol, the added stock, which is removable does not, as far as I am aware, make it an SBR
If you put a stock on a pistol , it indeed does make it an sbr. Which is why everyone adds a brace to an AR pistol, you add a stock and it’s an sbr.
