Is there a way to move the non firearm related items (garage sale stuff) to some out of the way place on the forum? .
They are in a separate sub forum.

I'd rather my used stuff (that is not FA-related) go to someone that supports 2A than some rando on offerup, so I post lots of my stuff here first to give the good folks here the opportunity to pick it up first, usually at less than I'd post it for on CL or offerup.

For any costs that come with the forum as well as income is going to have to be reported. So whatever income it's generating the Irs is gonna want their cut.

Come next year thanks to biden if you own a S-corp or a LLC and the buisness is not paying the owner of the company in which they own a payroll it's a automatic flag and audit....

Yes it's a free forum but whoever has the tax liability it is not a free forum...

I was a member of Gunboards.com for almost 15 years. The owners, Tuco and Vic, were caught "humping rifles" to make them more valuable. Mostly Finn Mosins and German K98's. They were making huge amounts of money faking rare weapons and selling to the unsuspecting forum members. They were making "non-matching" rifles into all-matching rifles, and using steel dies to re-number and add rare proof marks, such as the [SA] stamp on certain Russian rifles or a fake "SS death head" proof on k98's.
I was banned 3 or 4 times because the owners, and all the moderators, were members of the "good ole' boys club". They were all friends and the forum rumors, cut-throat deals, and office politics forced many of the very knowledgeable old original members off the forum. Tuco and Vic ran Gunboards like their own little dictatorship.
I remember one forum member named "Vulch" from Australia. If you had an Enfield question, or needed Enfield parts, he was the man to go to. He was an Enfield EXPERT.
Tuco, Vic, and the sycophant moderators ran him off the forum.
At one time there were many extremely knowledgeable members of Gunboards, but the arrogance of the owners ran all the good guys away.
I have no regrets leaving Gunboards. I sleep better at night having done so.

The other methods of weeding out the drive-by sellers and scammers was heavily debated. Minimum post counts before posting in the tp means we get newbs posting non-sense all over just to pad their count. Email restrictions made it damn near impossible for gmail users to get registered. I’ve been here since almost the inception and have seen many attempts made to keep the tp as legit as possible.

The forum remains free for users, and throughout the ownership changes, all involved have wanted one thing: to build a community for Nevada gun owners to talk guns. Sure, this new step will help keep the lights on, but also helps weed out people who want to merely use us as NevadaBackPage vs help building the community while selling.

Frankly I think it’s a good change. I’m tired of seeing first time posters putting up FS ads asking msrp or higher for used crap without cross referencing on gunbroker or gundeals. They turn it into a de facto auction.

You can still post questions and comments for free not to mention tons of good Information

I'm not against anyone making money but I think it'd probably be best to try and do it a different way than limiting the ability to post in the trading post. I could be wrong and I guess we will need a little bit of time to see how things go but I've only seen 2-emails today for new listings so far. Last Monday, I received 18-emails for new listings on the trading post. My notifications are limited to the top 2 trading post threads, obviously.

If you are here strictly for the classifieds, keep in mind you are not required a donation to reply. I do believe Armslist requires a monthly or annual fee, much greater than the annual donation here, to advertise and respond to classifieds as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but these are the two local options? The forum is a much more desirable option than Armslist. There is a feedback system and, as a community, they can and have dispelled unwelcome and crooked sellers. I do not foresee needing to "see how it goes." We're well aware of how it's going to go, it's a no-brainer. This has been a long time coming, much welcome change for the community.

Yes, I understand the original post. No, I am not just here for the classifieds. I am glad your crystal ball is working better than mine though, mine is still in the shop for repair.

I just tried to edit a post made before the communist rule change of “pay or get out”. (It’s a joke not a dick. Don’t take it so hard). So we can’t even edit old posts unless we subscribe to your forum?
