Again, reading the first post, I thought it said they were considering a yearly fee, not that it was set in stone. It also said anyone who had previously donated would keep access (for the time being atleast).

Even if you sold one firearm per year, the 20 bucks is still less than the piece of pie GB, GunsAmerica, etc etc would take and a lot less hassle too

I think it is a PERK of making a donation, like getting the warm, cuddly blanket when you DONATE to the Shriners for children. If a payment were required to use the entire forum, then it would not be a donation, it would be a fee for services rendered.

The forum is free to use, you get a bonus now in being able to use the Trading Post if you donate to the support of the cost of running the forum.

Maybe we should just permanently close the trading post, that would stop scammers, feedback issues, etc. all together.

An added bonus to getting rid of the trading post would be that the BATFE would not be able to use it to look for folks who are engaged in the business of buying and selling firearms for profit without possessing an FFL.

Just my personal opinions, not necessarily those of the human(s) who own the forum and are too cheap to give me that third AAA battery....
Bro you are cool with me but this sounds like some slick back mafia type stuff.
*here we have moderator clemente to grace us* a la don coreleone voice *You have to makea charitable contribution to the family, it would be a shame if the trading post was to have its windows broken*

Just an observation in having subscribed to this thread by virtue of participating in it.

The members that are defending the change are those that have paid the fee and may or may not use the Trading Post section of the forum.

The members that are voicing displeasure of the change are those that have not paid the fee and more often than not do use the Trading Post section of the forum.

Quite the interesting divide…

Exactly! As that first post stated:

This applies specifically to the Trading Post!

As of now, this applies to anyone who has earned the green Forum Supporter badge. This may change to an annual pass (meaning annual forum supporter badge starting as early as next year).

At this point if you have the GREEN forum supporter badge because you ONCE sent the forum some money (back when it was any amount, you can still pretty much set the amount you want to donate I believe) that got you the green forum supporter button and you are therefore entitled to use the Trading Post at this time.

That may or may not change in the future, that's up to the owner(s).

I dumped all my savings into survival seeds to grow a garden once the world collapses. How many sweet baby watermelon seeds is it gonna take for me to get that green badge of honor?

How are they forcing you? You decide, do you want to sell here ? If so, you pay. You are the one making the choice.

When you go out for dinner do you complain about being ' forced' to pay for your meal? Don't answer...lol.
Do you complain about being forced to pay your monthly cell phone bill? Car insurance ? Again,no need to answer.

Stop with the 'forced' bs. There is now a yearly fee associated with posting things for sale, comply or don't sell. Those are your two options.
"This is the way".

I am asking that the rules be enforced equally. No matter if good ole boys club or not Yes, most of the mods here are great, Just airing out grievances. For example pointing out a idiot scratch on a 1911 vs pointing out that brand of 1911 is a total POS. Or, pointing out what the seller is claiming is full of crap. Instant ban? Sometimes, it depends on who makes the comments. Just be fair..
Otherwise the NS site is managed well. Reprinted on post 192

Then whats your issue with being required to pay for a service that costs money to provide?
To be fair, there are ads. We get many things free because of advertising. That being said, I don't think the $20 is a big deal, and when one of my guns sell, I'll send it. I wanted to put that in the ad, but it's locked for editing anything. The downside is that I can't edit the post to adjust the price, just add info to a post when I bump it.

I was thinking I kicked in some money in the past, and where my avatar would be there is a green corner. I don't know if that signifies I sent $10 or something in the past.

The green corner just means that you’re online. It goes away when you log off or choose to hide you’re online status in the settings.

Questions about trading post, and general rules. 1st, no politics. Loosely if at all enforced. But, because most of the current political situation comments trashing the current crop of political of misfits in power it is over looked. Awhile back I was given a time out for reentering a political post that a mod had deleted. I didn't know the mod deleted anything, I thought is was my dementia not pushing the enter button No questions from the mod, no appeal, just bamm, I am suspended for reentering post after deletion.
2nd, Trading post "no trashing allowed". I have seen some folks are allowed to trash, most others are not. Good ole boys network. Often I see comments on postings giving them an extra boost or try help with the sell. I totally understand the concept of "no trashing allowed". Otherwise, the pissing contests would be non stop. Awhile back, a well known member was selling some medical gloves size L. My comments was, "nothing wrong with the gloves, not trashing at all." "But why the seller who has XS small hands selling size L gloves.?" I was just bantering with the seller, not trashing. I get a time out, no appeal, no explanation, just bang, I am in the penalty box. Now, if the rules were applied equally applied to all, I wouldn't have an issue with it. But, with the good ole boys club here, some are allowed to banter, make comments, etc. Some are not.
In conclusion, I am just asking that the rules be enforced equally, or a process to appeal a ban. Yes, most of the mods here are great, some are not. Just asking for due process. Just airing out grievances. Otherwise happy with the way the NS site in managed.
It was the same when they first started requiring pictures of items for sale. Some ppl fell thru the cracks of that rule for various reasons, others got deleted immedately. Im still a lil salty about that, but after getting a smart phone it was easy to take and post pictures.
