If that’s the impression I personally gave, I am sorry brian. I’ve dealt with you before and I know you’re a solid dude.
I was rubbed the opposite way by some implying that those of us who donated were forced into doing so which is not the case.
Again I’m sorry Brian.
I appreciate your sincerity, though no apology is warranted. I just wanted to share my perspective. As someone who didn't follow the deliberations, it felt like one day I woke up and I was taking advantage of this forum although that was never my intention. I am not trying to complain, whine, or criticize the decision.

I apologize if my comment towards 1 user here who is basically calling me or us liars, came across as I was calling more than just that 1 person a freeloader. Not the intention at all.

it would be funny if the mods choose to do $10/month 😂😂😂
I have another closed forum I "pay" $20 a month just to read content and reply. Not even a trading post area. Other than dialog I get nothing from it other than thinking I may not have considered.
I've been donating since before the "yearly" banners and have even harassed "the boss" about when the hell he's going to do the next year's banner donation.
I will gladly continue to "freely give" yearly.

Compare what a 1 time sale on gun broker costs you. $20 here is a bargain!

View attachment 176354
And they also charge you service fees to buy on GunBroker as well.
Unless it's something I absolutely can't find anymore. I'm done with GunBroker.
Armslist is cheaper even with their monthly fee.

We can't have multiple accounts? Sh*t.... I guess I will have to delete my Bullseyeman profile.
Sorry I mislead all of you 😬
But you're keeping your Gullwing, Tophog, Harley and NYECOGunsmith accounts, right?

btickles asks, "So what does everybody think about the new fee to sell on the forum? How long before you have to get marked on your right hand or forehead to use the features of the cool kids club?"

I don't see the problem with the basic concept of being a paying supporter to post ads, what I have a problem with is, as a paying supporter, being banned without warning, as I was over the past week because I, like many others, had an opinion on a recent topic. This was wrong. If the site is going to establish a paying model, it should be a bit more open to conversation, polite differences of opinion, among paying members, else state that group-think is now required. Further, no one, paying especially, should be banned without warning except in the most egregious of circumstances. Especially, after just soliciting me, in my case, to become a paid advertiser. Well, that one isn't happening anytime soon. Or, would that have given me a Get Out of Jail Free card protection from banning?

So, yes, pay to play is okay but does come with some basic expectations.

Since selling stuff is part of the site where money changes hands, it makes sense to have some kind of fee for it - I'm a member of at least one other online community where, if you sell things through the site, you are expected to donate a certain percentage of the sale price. This even applies to people who purchase annual supporter badges.

I don't see any problem with limiting posting in the Trading Post area to supporting members. I like the idea that it adds a level of "soft security" to the trading post.

Again I’m sorry Brian.
You implied that all by yourself and miscronstrued what i said in that direction.
If gasoline went to $20 a gallon I wouldn’t be happy but I need gasoline to operate my vehicle which in return provides me with a means to provide for my family by getting to work, taking the kids to and from school, buying groceries, traveling to visit family or go on vacation, etc etc…. So I would pay, unhappily but I would pay.
Are you saying posting FS threads provides you with the same?

And if a car dealer gave me a car then said I had to donate $5,000 to still use it, I would return the car since it’s my choice to pay or not, especially if I got to use it for free for so long. With all respect there is no “probably bait and switch”, it either is or isn’t. Bait and switch is pretty clear, “the action (generally illegal) of advertising goods which are an apparent bargain, with the intention of substituting inferior or more expensive goods”. What we’re discussing is an optional service, when and where were you promised unlimited classified posting ?

And no one is blowing smoke at you, however it feels like someone is blowing smoke to us. By definition a contribution is a gift or payment to a common fund or collection bringing about a result or helping something to advance. Sounds a lot like the exact situation we find ourselves in. I’m sorry if you don’t see it that way, but that’s what it is. No one’s holding a gun to your head.

The forum paid for itself for a while via sponsorship, Are you suggesting that Titan personally pay for everything from his own private funds?
And if the forum is doing well and titan wants to increase revenue and make a few bucks, are you saying he has no right to?
That’s communism, isn’t it?

I meant you no disrespect, no need to make petty comments, I am not a don and my name isn’t Vito.
1. Yes
2. The last ten years on this forum. Never were we talking about promises made so get that out of your head. With respect im pretty sure everything is a probably until a judge or jury makes a ruling and even then.
3 lots of ppl are blowing smoke. by definition a contribution is a gift or payment to a common fund or collection bringing about a result or helping something to advance. That sounds like communisum.
4. No and no like i said before you and those you chose to represent got all worked up over the word "forced" it was a nice free ride for awhile.
Amazing to me how you are so entitled to get butt hurt over the words forced donation and i cant do the same with other words. "Rules for thee but not for me" how very communist of you comrade.

It was a joke because they locked this thread.
Then they locked that thread and unlocked this one to say it was already being discussed here lol. A lot You all getting real sensitive over here to go on a war path against me who basically agreed with the concept of the fee to begin with. Just some super sensitive guys looking to take some frusturation out on someone who didnt march in lockstep with them. I thought it was just liberals but i guess its human nature.
