Agreed.

Been to too many interviews where I was told that I was "over qualified".

That's just code for "I will only pay at or near minimum scale, and don't want you to have legit standing to bit¢h to Upper Management."

don't they prefere to hire someone thats over qualified vs under qualified...

In a lot of industries no they don't. Money is certainly part of it, but many just want to train the people with "their way", and not have to "fix bad habits taught elsewhere". Good luck in your search!

Clark County School District

CCSD will be posting for a couple of 12 month positions. One is for an experienced mechanic. Automotive experience is okay, but some diesel is preferred. I think they're 4 positions available, but don't quote me on that. The pay isn't bad to start (WG 54 $21.38 probation, $22.46 after 6 mo, and it goes up every year after that), and the benefits are good. Plus after 5 years, you are vested in PERS. Also, they are hiring one "Garage Attendant" i think the title is. Basically you fuel and service the school buses, dump the trash in the shop and bus parking area, and other similar stuff. The pay isn't the greatest (WG 41 $11.34 probation, and $11.91 after that, and it goes up every year after that), but the benefits... This might be good for a young adult wanting to "get their foot in the door" Again, that is a 12 month position, no summer off... See the link below of visit the "Ed Shed" on Flamingo Rd. They are also hiring bus drivers (WG 47 $15.20 then $15.96...). That's typically 9 month position, but if you need something...

One other thing, because there is a defined govt pension, you no longer pay Social Security tax. Depending on your situation, this could affect future benefits...

Do you know what the requirements are for bus drivers? Do you need a CDL?
No CDL required, they provide the training and are 3rd party certified (meaning they do the driving test themselves, and you just take the results to the DMV). You just need a drivers license and a decent record.

Oh ok. I drive a 26" truck for work so a bus is easy cake. I'll give it a shot.

The CCSD is still hiring school bus drivers, no CDL required.
They have an in house, two week paid training course, at the end of the two weeks, you will have a class B CDL , with a passenger and school bus endorsement.
If at the end of the two weeks, you don't want to work for the CCSD, you can walk away with your CDL, they can't take that away.
I've been driving a bus for ten years, it's a pretty good gig.
If you have any questions, pm me.

Here's an update on school bus driving positions.
I spoke to one of our trainers today, and he said we need close to 100 more drivers.
The time from application submission to being hired is one and a half, to two weeks.

Hey guys my wife is recently out of work and actively looking. She has her Associates Degree in Graphic Design and is well versed in Photoshop as well as other design programs. She has experience with quickbooks, excel and all the other commonly used office programs. Most of her work experience comes from an office setting and most recently was a customer service manager for a local sub-contractor. If anyone has a need for an excellent employee and has further questions, don't hesitate to send me a PM. Thanks in advance guys.

I sent you a PM, but I'm not sure if it worked. Please let me know if you got it.
